Ducks, Storms, Revisions and Mango Salad

Things I learned yesterday:

1) Our ducks are freaking terrified of umbrellas.  When I ran out during yesterday's storm to get them into their house, Kate and Deiter started flapping all over the yard, honking loudly.  Kate didn't realize the coop door was closed and crashed into the glass.  Deiter ran in circles then tried to hide under the shed.  I put the umbrella down and all was fine.  WT???

2) Revising a manuscript can make it even more of a mess than whatever you started with.  Enough said.

3) The green mango salad in Martha Stewart's FOOD magazine this month is excellent.  I recommend adding some chopped sweet onion or jicama for extra crunch.

4) After a storm, you sometimes get treated to a really amazing sunset.

  1. I've never tried mango in a salad. Right now I'm eating my salads with avacado and I love the extra creaminess.

    The sunset is gorgeous.

And good luck with your edits!

  2. I'm sorry you were scaring your ducks during the storm. They were probably already stressed before you started chasing them with a big skewer. ;)

Sorry revisions are being tough... You are brilliant, you'll get it.

and, I agree with the revision statement. I swear my work looks like swiss cheese and I have no idea how to go back and make it fluid. it's tougher than I ever imagined!

  5. Sending you good revision karma. Maybe it just feels more messed up than before?

  6. Aubrie, I loved avocados too, until I saw how many calories they have. Calories are bad for me. :(

Sharon, I was not scaring the ducks. :b

Tess, I'm hating revisions more every day.

KarenG, ha! There's always a 'rest of the story' isn't there?

PJ, Thanks so much for the good karma. I'm sure the ms is better in parts, but not sure it works as a whole any longer.

  7. I know how you feel about revisions. Sometimes I wonder if I should just leave the words alone. There are times when everything I try just makes it worse. Grrr.
