Lisbon -- from Int'l. Living
Yes, it's late, but here it is. My Friday Favorite is INTERNATIONAL LIVING MAGAZINE.
Maybe you've heard that I want to retire to a stone house somewhere in Europe? International Living Magazine is the key to my escape. Not only do they send a monthly magazine, highlighting the best, the warmest, the cheapest locales available on the globe, but every year they create a master list of the 100 best places to retire.
This year France was #1. I would love France...8 months out of the year, but to me weather is a huge concern. No worries though. I can just scan the detailed scorecard and find the country ranking highest in climate. Are you more concerned about safety and hospitals? Those criteria are scored too. There are nine or ten criteria in all, including infrastructure and culture.
If you're at all interested in living overseas at some point, this magazine is a MUST. If you just want to dream...it's still a nice mag to have.
France would be nice, except that I'm awful at French! (Took three years of it in high school and all I can say is "telesiege"-chairlift)
ReplyDeleteAfter you become a multi-millionaire with all your best-sellers you can live in France for 8 months of the year and somewhere warm the other 4. I plan to split my year between my beach house in California and my ski chalet in Colorado after I make my millions.
ReplyDeleteOoh! That Sounds like a GREAT magazine!

ReplyDeleteThanks for the mention, Amy. The magazine turns 30 this year, and we're still trying to get it right!
ReplyDeleteAubrie--so funny. I also took french in h.s. in addition to playing flute! :)
ReplyDeleteSusan--just go ahead and become a millionaire so I don't have to. I'll visit you in CA.
LT--def. check out their website. A lot of the magazine info is available there. But the magazine is so fun.
Dan--you guys do a great job! In fact, we're heading to Ecuador in March (with four adults and four nine-year olds) to check things out. So thanks for all the recent articles on EC!
Sounds like a good magazine to have. I've only ever been as far as Mexico and Canada for out of the country. Oh, yeah! And Alaska, before it became a state.
ReplyDeleteGreat review.

Amy,
ReplyDeleteI meant to mention that your picture does not have a link back to your site. Just thought you might like to know.
